Migration

ince the 1990s, migration has become a serious challenge for Georgian society. This phenomenon has both positive aspects and leads to numerous social issues. Based on our observations, a large portion of those who leave the country for work are women. Often, they leave behind their families and children in hopes of better income. However, over the years, material gain comes at the cost of personal relationships, mental and physical health, and social connections.

The goals of the Association Merkuri in the field of migration are:

- To promote the prevention of illegal migration;

– To assist migrants in cases of domestic violence;

– To support the resocialization of migrants;

– To help reduce the negative impacts caused by migration.

The Association Merkuri is a member of various networks working on migration issues, including being a co-founder of the Migration, Integration, and Development International Association (MIDE) since 2015, a member of the Advocacy Network for Migration Issues (ANMI) since 2021, and Civil Society for Migration (2023).
